This fascinating Arctic adventure travels to remote regions along the dramatic coastline and the most northerly part of Norway. The entire duration of this tour is spent above the Arctic Circle, increasing your chance of seeing the Northern Lights
Your journey begins in Tromsø, with a leisurely voyage north. Observe the sky as you travel towards Honningsvåg. From here, you can join an excursion to mainland Europe's most northerly point, the North Cape. We then head to the sheltered harbour of Kirkenes, a mere 10km from the Russian border. Here you may visit the border with Russia, try your hand at snowmobiling, or enjoy a taste of Sami life.
As the return journey from Kirkenes hugs the coastline, you revisit remote settlements which rely on Hurtigruten ships to maintain contact with the rest of Norway. We stay overnight in Tromsø after leaving the ship.
Special Occasion Voyages
Christmas: Join our 6-day voyage on MS Kong Harald on 21 Dec and celebrate Christmas with a special meal and Christmas carols on board.
New Year: On our 6-day New Year’s departures on 28 and 29 December we have added a night in Tromsø before you board the ship allowing time to see the town before you set sail. There will be New Year celebrations on board and a special New Year’s Eve meal will be served.
Valentine’s Day: Join our departure on 12 or 13 February and spend Valentine’s Day on board. You will arrive in Tromsø late in the evening and have the option to take part in a romantic dog sledging excursion the following morning before you depart.

From Honningsvåg, a 35km coach journey will take you to the North Cape Plateau with unsurpassed views towards the North Pole and a potentially incredible backdrop for experiencing the Northern Lights.

Snowmobile Safari in Lapland – Kjøllefjord
After being kitted out for your snowmobile adventure in snowmobile overalls, special boots, hat, gloves and helmet you are taken to the starting point of the trip. Your guide will tell you about life on the Finnmark coast and the Sami that live here along the way. After receiving driving instructions from our guides you start the drive to Mehamn through the snow covered landscapes of Finnmark all the way to the Hurtigruten quay in Mehamn

Kirkenes Snow Hotel - Kirkenes
Visit the Gabba Reindeer Park where the Snow Hotel is situated. Enjoy a guided tour of the hotel with the beautifully decorated snow suites and enjoy a drink in the Ice bar. Afterwards there will be time to meet the reindeer before you head to Gabba restaurant to warm up by the fire and enjoy a snack.

Barents Safari Snowmobile - Kirkenes
Enjoy an exhilarating experience by driving a snowmobile across the frozen sea (full instruction given, driving licence required). On your return, relax in a traditional dwelling and enjoy an introduction to the everyday life of the Sami. Warm clothing is provided. Available mid-December.

Sledging – Tromsø
Complete your holiday with a thrilling ride by Husky dog sledge across the open plains of Tromsø. Eager Huskies are harnessed to our sledge waiting to transport you across the frozen landscape. At the end of the trip a warm meal will be served in a lavvo (Sami tent). An exhilarating trip!
